A question I’ll be asking less of now as I’ve finally taken delivery of my new alarm clock. As befits a gadget lover, the Starck clock looks good, has remote temperature sensors, tells me the highest and lowest temperatures recorded, has remote time setting and most importantly tells the time. Lovely.

Merriweather Strikes Back
The continuing adventures of Henry. Hope he remembers to bring out the gimp and fix the cut-off drop shadow.
Best Mobile Ever?
I’ve held off posting this for a while just to make sure I found no snags with it, but after 3 months of use and an absolute pounding when I moved house I can now say with confidence……the T610 is the best mobile…..ever…..that I’ve used.
Small, sleek and gadget packed it does the most important bit really well – a cracking phone with a really good reception. On top is a fairly good battery life (switch off Bluetooth), great screen, polyphonic tones so that you too can annoy everyone with the Airwolf theme, java games, camera and as already mentioned Bluetooth. The Bluetooth actually supports ftp as well so transferring images back and forth is no longer an issue. Even better, the phone is now free on almost all tariffs especially as the T630 is out.
Snow Patrol
Best new album I’ve heard in ages – more on them here – you can sample the album and hear the two bonus tracks from the album.
Bad Day…or is it?
Well, one of my mates found out that his voluntary redundancy has been accepted. Two weeks from now and he’s out of work. Bummer. Or is it? Maybe its the kick up the arse he needs? Maybe it’s the change in life he needs? A new job, house, friends etc await. I guess it’s whether the glass is half empty or full.
In some ways I wish it was me moving on. New challenges, new people to meet, new geek things to learn…maybe this is the kick up the arse I need. Or maybe I should just unpack another box (still far too many lying around the house) and order some new decor.
Firefox
Nope, not some dodgy Clint Eastwood movie. If you’ve got Windows, do yourself a favour and download Firefox – a fast, free and non M$ browsing alternative to IE6. Did I mention it was better than IE6 to?
House Update
So its now 3 weeks since we got the keys, and two and a bit since we moved in. Total boxes unpacked…..14. Still to do…..around 60! Everything takes much longer to do than expected – this weekend will involve some painting, drilling, and…..some box unpacking – woo-hoo!
But it’s starting to come together now and I’ve only headed back to the old house once by mistake. Doh!
I’ve Moved
At last, around 6 months after first looking for a new house we’ve finally moved. Even better, by the time I set-up the PC (a whole 4 days after moving!) broadband had been installed. I only needed 3 minutes of dial-up to get my new ADSL username etc and I was away. Kudos to Plusnet.
As for the house – superb – wish I’d done it years ago, but then I wouldn’t have had enough money to do it years ago. What I can’t believe is just how much there is to do in the house. Small jobs take forever. And I’m shit at DIY, although I’ve just subscribed to the uk.diy newsgroup…..as if that will help.
Even after a week I’m still surrounded by brown boxes – it’s going to take quite a while before we’re fully unpacked – months even! But I’m pleased with the chaos and the new house especially compared to the old place!
