As seen elsewhere I’d thought I’d do my own round up of the best and worst of 2004. So here it is….

Revenge of the Sith
The movie trailer for the third (or sixth depending on your viewpoint) Star Wars film has been released. Looks like an exclusive download for the moment only, but the torrent can be found here.
As for the content, looking good and a lot darker but this is the movie that details the birth of Vader. Roll on next May.
XBMC
I’ve mentioned Xbox Media Center (XBMC) before but the new updates are top smart. First up is a new web radio interface. Makes browsing through hundreds of Internet radio stations a breeze. Second is a link into Apple’s movie trailer site which means you can stream and watch trailers on the TV with ease. Finally there’s a link to game trailers at Microsoft.
Linking into the pc is easy and means I can browse the all my music (and album art finally works well) and select play lists at will. Can then easily switch to movies stored on the media server pc, the Xbox itself or slap in a dvd. If you are into home entertainment in any way, a chipped Xbox and XBMC really are worth investigating.
Return of the King
Finally….details of the extended edition of Return of the King have been released. Again four disks the film has over 50 minutes of extra footage slipped into it – thats 250 minutes in total. Over four hours. Need to be careful or deep vein thrombosis will set in.
Darth Vaders Helmet
Monday sees the release of the Star Wars boxset. To get in the mood have a look at the making of the new Darth Vader helmet for the upcoming Episode 3. Just under 2 mins, just over 5 meg but a nice glimpse at not only the helmet but of a green screeen fight scene between McGregor and Christensen.
Star Wars DVD
I’ve finally given in (to the force) and ordered the Star Wars trilogy. Amazon will deliver on the day of release (20th Sep) but the chances of it coming that day are slim. Digital Bits has a review of the box set and also screens of some of the changes that are in this release.
It’s a pity the DVD release didn’t take advantage of branching to allow the original and these updated editions to exist on one disk. The tampering Lucas has employed with the originals does not, in my book, make the films any more watch able. Indeed some shots just look wrong when mixed in with the new effects. More fool me for buying them. But I’m looking forward to seeing them – it’s years since I’ve watched them in full and I’ve a week off at the end of September. Perfect.
Team America
New film out later this year with spiffo trailer – what Thunderbirds movie should have been.
Batman Begins Trailer
More of a teaser but available from here. Can’t wait.
The Matrix
A 10 disc edition of The Matrix films is to be released later this year. Wow. Never did a trilogy promise so much, fail to deliver and come on so many disks. Where can I pre-order?
Batman Begins
Site for fifth Batman movie can be found here. Nice piccies of the new batmobile.
